Fallout 3 is an action role-playing shooter released by Bethesda Game Studios, and is the third major game in the Fallout series. The game was released in North America on October 28, 2008, in Europe and Australia on October 30, 2008, and in the United Kingdom and Ireland on October 31, 2008 for Microsoft Windows, PlayStation 3, and Xbox 360.
Story
Fallout 3 takes place in the year 2277, 36 years after the setting of Fallout 2 and 200 years after the nuclear war between the United States and China that devastated the game’s world in an alternate post-World War III timeline. The game places the player in the role of an inhabitant of Vault 101, a survival shelter designed to protect a small number of humans from the nuclear fallout. When the player character’s father disappears under mysterious circumstances, he or she is forced to escape from the Vault and journey into the ruins of Washington D.C. to track him down. Along the way the player is assisted by a number of human survivors and must battle myriad enemies that now inhabit the area now known as the “Capital Wasteland”. The game has an attribute and combat system typical of an action strategy game but also incorporates elements of first-person shooter and survival horror games.
Following its release, Fallout 3 has received very positive responses from critics and a number of Game of the Year awards, praising in particular the game’s open-ended gameplay and flexible character-leveling system. The NPD Group estimated that Fallout 3 sold over 610,000 units during its initial month of release in October 2008, outselling Bethesda Softworks’ previous game, The Elder Scrolls IV: Oblivion, which sold nearly 500,000 units in its first month. The game has also received post-launch support with Bethesda releasing downloadable add-ons for the game.
Marketing and release
Trailers
On June 5, 2007, Bethesda released the Fallout 3 teaser trailer. The press kit released with the trailer indicated that Ron Perlman would be on-board with the project, and cited a release date of Fall 2008. The trailer features The Ink Spots song “I Don’t Want to Set the World on Fire”, which the previous Fallout developer Black Isle Studios originally intended to license for use in the first Fallout game. The trailer, which was completely done with in-engine assets, closed with Ron Perlman saying his trademark line which he also spoke in the original Fallout: “War. War never changes”. The trailer shows a devastated Washington, D.C., evidenced by the partially damaged Washington Monument in the background as well as the crumbling buildings surrounding a rubble-choked city thoroughfare.
A second trailer was first shown during a GameTrailers TV E3 special on July 12, 2008. The trailer zooms out from a ruined house in the Washington, D.C. suburbs, providing a wider view of the capital’s skyline including the Capitol Building and Washington Monument in the distance. On July 14, 2008, an extended version of this trailer was made available, which besides the original content, includes a Vault-Tec advertisement and actual gameplay. Both versions of the trailer feature the song “Dear Hearts and Gentle People” as recorded by Bob Crosby and the Bobcats.
Film festival
On July 11, 2008, as a part of promoting Fallout 3, Bethesda Softworks partnered with American Cinematheque and Geek Monthly magazine to sponsor “A Post-Apocalyptic Film Festival Presented by Fallout 3″. The festival took place on August 22-23 at Santa Monica’s Aero Theater. Six post-apocalyptic movies made over the past 40 years were shown which depict life and events that could occur after a world-changing disaster, including Wizards, Damnation Alley, A Boy and His Dog, The Last Man on Earth, The Omega Man, and Twelve Monkeys.
Searches of the father
In Rivet of City we search for laboratory, Whether we speak with the doctor. We receive for it the information on mother, the project “Cleanliness” and on the father. We learn that after a maintenance from the Refuge 101 it appeared in Rivet of City, but has left in Jefferson’s Memorial (rebuilding in laboratory on water treating) where is gathered to be engaged in further researches under the project. On desktop near the scientist it is taken away a naked doll (+10 to a science). We go to Jefferson’s Memorial, completely we smooth out from supermutants, on a course finding audio records of the father under the project Cleanliness, and also about GEKK. From them we learn that the father in search of the well-known scientist who the sign with GEKK, has gone to the Refuge 112. We run to the Refuge 112, outside it represents garage, we find in a long-distance room the switch, activating which we open an input in a cellar. In the Refuge we are met by the robot, having scolded us for delay in 202 years produces clothes of the Refuge and suggests to take the place in a chaise lounge trankvillity. Following its advice the free unit is found, and we take seat in it. Welcome in game in game. They
Near to Supermarch to us there is a fellow being in a semideranged state for fear. He is afraid of THEM. By difficult dialogue we manage to clarify that guy – townsman Grejdich, and it very worries for the father. We are routed in Grejdich. On arrival to a city, before us the terrible picture opens – all shines, and ants-overages everywhere creep. Having passed in the house of the guy we find a corpse of his father and the Chinese automatic machine. We quit back in a city and we go to a snackbar (a building of red colour). Near to it there is a vertical metal tank in which the fellow appealing to our help sits.

The big problems in the City
Near to the Megaton there is a City (to look a map), the settlement consists of one-storeyed small houses – inhabitants of this city exiles from LitlLemplajta (getting out from a city at majority reaching). For them the big problems – attack supermutants and slave traders. As-time shortly before our arrival they were attacked by supermutants, and have dragged off several inhabitants to itself in a police station of Dzhermantauna. Townsmen ask to release the friends. We go to a police station, on approaches to it it is killed supermutants. About a site the camp, in which on a computer some notices of the nurse of the first post-war days was stretched. Inputs in a site two – on the first and second floors. The first input is closed, and if you not the super bear-hunter, for you the second (is from a building back side).
Live inhabitants of the City in a site of all two – Red on the ground floor and the Pudge in a cellar, the others represent a mincemeat in the suspended grids.Since we go down from the second floor at first we meet locked in a cage Red, but at once to release it I do not advise – will kill. We delete supermutants at all levels, we release the Pudge, we give it the weapon (not without fail), we rise we release Red, we give a trunk (also not without fail, but it is recommended). It is time in a way back. Having resulted the former captives in their settlement, we receive experience and the new job – to help them with struggle against supermutants and slave traders.
